Noah Builds the Ark, A Story of Faith and Obedience

Thornvillechurch – Noah Builds the Ark, Noah is known for his unwavering faith and obedience to God. He had a wife and three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth each of whom had a wife. Together, Noah’s family consisted of eight people. One day, God gave Noah a remarkable command to build a huge ark that would serve as a refuge from a great flood that was about to wipe out the earth. This command was a great test of faith for Noah and his family.

God’s Command: Noah Builds the Incredible Ark

God instructed Noah to builds an enormous ark that resembled a large ship, but with more of a rectangular shape. The ark was to have three levels and many rooms inside. It was designed to accommodate Noah’s family, various animals, and the provisions they would need. God also specified that the ark should be constructed in such a way that water would not be able to enter. As Noah and his sons began building, they faced ridicule from the people around them. The world had no faith in Noah’s warning.

Despite the mocking and disbelief, Noah and his family worked tirelessly to fulfill God’s command. For years, they continued the construction of the ark while others continued living in sin and ignoring the warnings. Finally, after many years, the ark was completed as God had commanded.

The Great Flood: A Test of Obedience

Once the ark was finished, God instructed Noah to bring two of each kind of animal male and female onto the ark. Additionally, some animals were to be brought in sevens. Noah followed these instructions faithfully, gathering all the necessary creatures. Then, Noah and his family entered the ark, and God closed the door behind them. At this point, the people who had mocked Noah’s warnings began to realize the gravity of the situation. However, it was too late for them to enter the ark.

Suddenly, the skies opened, and rain began pouring down in torrents, flooding the earth. The people who had scoffed at Noah now saw that the flood had come, but it was too late for them to be saved. The water rose quickly, covering the land, and soon even the highest mountains were submerged. For forty days and forty nights, the rain continued to pour from the sky. All the people and animals outside the ark perished, fulfilling God’s word. Meanwhile, inside the ark, Noah and his family were safe, floating above the floodwaters on the only vessel still intact.

The End of the Flood: Hope for the Future

After the rain ceased, God sent a wind to begin drying up the waters. Five months later, the ark came to rest on the top of a mountain. Noah and his family could now see the peaks of the mountains rising above the water. To check if the land was dry, Noah released a raven, but it returned because there was nowhere for it to land. Next, he sent out a dove, but it returned as well. On the second release, the dove returned with an olive leaf in its beak, signaling that the waters were receding. After a third release, the dove did not return, indicating that the earth had dried sufficiently.

At this point, God spoke to Noah, telling him to come out of the ark along with his family and all the animals. After more than a year of being confined inside the ark, they were finally free to step out into a new world a world that had been cleansed by the flood.

Obedience That Brings Salvation

The story of Noah building the ark is not just about the physical labor of constructing a massive vessel; it is a testament to obedience, patience, and trust in God, even in the face of adversity. Noah and his family demonstrated that even when the world around them did not believe, faith and obedience to God lead to salvation. Through this story, we learn that there is nothing more important than heeding God’s warnings, for He, in His infinite power, will always provide a way for those who trust and obey Him.
